Job Purpose:
The IT Operations Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and improving the organization’s IT infrastructure. This includes managing servers, storage, virtualization, and cloud platforms. Be part of a team that ensures system availability, performance, and security across our IT landscape
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, maintain, and support Windows and/or Linux-based systems (on-prem and cloud)
- Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Office 365
- Maintain and support virtualization platforms VMware
- Assist with patch management, system updates, and configuration changes
- Manage cloud infrastructure components (Azure, AWS) including virtual machines, backups, and storage
- Ensure systems are compliant with security policies and best practices
- Respond to and resolve incidents and service requests within SLAs
- Monthly operations reports
- Participate in the planning and implementation of infrastructure projects
- Perform daily system health checks and proactive monitoring
- Collaborate with developers, service desk, and 3rd party vendors
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in IT systems engineer/administration or operations
- Strong understanding of Windows Server administration (2019/2022)
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and Azure services
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery technologies e.g., Veeam, Zerto, Redstor
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls)
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like PRTG, Site24x7 and Nagios
- Understanding of ITIL-based processes and change management
Preferred Qualifications:
- IT Diploma or equivalent
- Microsoft certifications (AZ-104, MCSA, MS-900)
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools e.g., Terraform is beneficial
- Experience with identity management and single sign-on (SSO) integrations
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities
- Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation or after-hours work when needed
